DKL at PyCon Sevilla 2025: learning, connection, and a touch of magic

In October 2025, 17 DKL team members attended PyCon España in Sevilla, blending learning, networking, and in-person connection. For a fully remote team, it was a rare opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas, and bring the energy of the Python community directly into our workflows.

Human side: meeting the team beyond the screen

One of the most valued aspects of PyCon Sevilla was the opportunity to meet colleagues in person — for many, it was the first time. Working fully remotely means that team interactions often happen across screens. Hence, the conference provided a rare and meaningful space to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas spontaneously, and celebrate a shared passion for technology.

These moments of connection — over coffee, lunch, or between sessions — reminded everyone of the essential role human bonds play in collaboration.

Technical side: from Python scripts to web apps

A special highlight came from within the team: Hiain Cañizares, from DKL’s Data team, took the stage to deliver his talk, "La magia de Streamlit: de scripts de Python a web apps".

Despite a technical hiccup that prevented him from running the demo he had prepared smoothly, Hiain humorously classified his presentation as a “successful disaster”. Yet, the content resonated so strongly that other presenters referenced it the next day, joking that they wished they had seen it before preparing their own talks. The session highlighted how Streamlit can transform Python scripts into interactive web apps, proving the practical value of accessible, rapid prototyping — even when the live demo doesn’t go as planned.
